Banjaran

Hey guys!

For quite a while, I had wanted to do something out of the box and try something different from my usual style of fashion. So, here I am with Banjaran style this time. For those who don’t know what banjaran means, it is the Hindi word for female gypsy. You can find such people mostly in remote areas. They travel from place to place on barren or harsh land and belong to the nomadic tribe of northern India.

I am very fascinated by the banjaran fashion and way of styling. The heavy silver ornaments and over weighted accessories, that are not so easy to wear, are carried so gracefully along with simple lehengas or suits, etc. Banjaran fashion can also be seen in some of the Indian movies.

For this style, I got stitched a maroon quarter-sleeves short Kurta and a white Patiala salwar. I wore chunky accessories like silver necklaces, jhumkas and a big kada to go with the outfit. With Mojari as footwear and a printed dupatta tied around my forehead, I completed the banjaran look.

The Banjaran style is very customisable and you can also try it and add some other fusions into it according to your choice.
